Configure Repeater Mode access points TP-Link TL-WA701ND TL-WA801ND and

Again we walk around with repeater mode! In this case we let DD-WRT teams and let's focus on other household devices such as TP-Link. In recent years, the brand TP-Link has been characterized as a fairly inexpensive and affordable brand. As you can see over the next tutorial, setup to repeat a signal (receive and resend Wifi) is much simpler. The following manual applies to the following models:

To access the configuration of these devices you need to set the IP address of our network card within range of your computer network. In this case we better eg 192.168.1.10. Gateway To use the device's IP is 192.168.1.254.

Configuring TP-Link Repeater Mode

Once configured the network card, connect the device cable to the computer network, and we hope that this indicates that the device is connected.

Once logged in open a web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome ...) and type in the address bar the device IP 192.168.1.254. When you press Enter a dialog box appears where we will put the username and password of the device, in this case Username: admin and Password: admin.

Configuring TP-Link Repeater Mode

When you press OK, go into the device settings.

First in the "Network" establish the gateway router (Gateway), which will be the IP address of your ADSL router, usually 192.168.1.1. In the event that the IP address of the ADSL router as 192.168.0.1 was another, we should also change the direction of the repeater to within that range, for example 192.168.0.254. Likewise with the network card of the team, would put eg 192.168.0.10. And would enter setup, this time through the IP address 192.168.0.254.

Configuring TP-Link Repeater Mode

After changing the gateway click on "Save", wait for the data to be saved and go to the Wireless section. In the first section, "Wireless Settings" modify the parameters as in the image, we set the "Operation Mode" in Universal Repeater and select our country "Region".

Configuring TP-Link Repeater Mode

Once done click on the button "Survey" to find the networks detected by the computer and a new window will appear with a box similar to the following:

Configuring TP-Link Repeater Mode

Select the network you want to connect and click "Connect". By doing this we return to the setup and we can see that in the box "MAC of AP" MAC address appears our ADSL router. Press the button "Save" to save your changes and go to the "Wireles Security" where we have to tell the repeater has the password to the wifi network you want to connect. We'll have to tell you if the password is WEP or WPA and enter it in the box provided.

After you type the password, press "Save" to save your changes and press on "Click here" to restart the router, click the "Reboot" button and accept.

If you have followed the steps correctly, when you reboot the router and will be repeating the wifi network signal. This router repeats the signal with the same name and password as the wifi network card.

    Hey, Gus:

I quote from the manual: "" Wireles Security where we have to tell the repeater has the password to the wifi network you want to connect. We'll have to tell you if the password is WEP or WPA and enter it in the appropriate box "

Do not miss it, choose the type of encryption and put the key.

  2. ok that I find perfectly'd know how I can do this using two network cards are alpha and rtl 8187 with realtek program but I get it working properly I have many cuts porq if you can help me I'd appreciate it

  3. LaCuevaWifi 10. May, 2012 at 9:16

Sponge, I guess what you're trying to do is plug in two cards Alfa equal to a PC, putting one in AP mode and the other receiving the signal. At least since Windows will not be possible to be identical because they use the same drivers and no one will recognize you.

As if it's any help, I link to a tutorial for a top team, the N + MAX Crotalus: http://www.lacuevawifi.com/CompraWifi/2011/11/28/como-configurar-un-crotalus-max-n en-ap mode /

Thank you very much for your comment. We do what we can :)

As a general rule, you should check that you get a good amount of signal. You can do it with inSSIDer, for example.
Specifically your case, do you use static IP addresses? Or dynamic? If you are using dynamic test to change manually assigned IP addresses. Occasional user has solved similar problems in this way.

    Greetings! ;)

  6. Q for truth man I read some of that, look I mention I have the antenna signal q grabs with automatic IP and antenna emits the signal q with q static ip has these values put 192.168.0.1 and subnet mask 255.255.255.0 I to try putting the two same aver q such thing going on automatic guess both q should go well good I'll tell you if there is any idea you get with all joy is also a greeting greetings and thanks

  12. LaCuevaWifi 18. May, 2012 at 9:51

Sponge, in that I can not help because the IP addresses you have to put in the role of already assigned to your network. In any case, make sure that the gateway (Gateway) is the IP of the router which gives internet output. The subnet mask is 255.255.255.0 normally, you can check on your network card. The IP device type is surely 192.168.1.X (where X is any number from 0 to 254).
Anyway, I say: check it in your network.

  13. I have a doubt, once installed and configured.
If I look for the network, it would appear the two with the same name, or just one?

And another thing, that power would, for example in the USB Wifi 1000mw put it in, what would be in these models?

    Thank you very much

  14. LaCuevaWifi 23. May, 2012 at 13:28

Maiky_KTM, it is normal that you only leave a network but in some cases can you detect two with the same name and encryption. This equipment has standard power, ie between 80-100mW. Eye! More power does not guarantee better connection and all you can see in the comparison we did in LaCuevaWifi.com in Crotalus vs WiFiSKY. Salu2!

  15. LaCuevaWifi thank you very much, take this into account, but I think if I'm buying.

  16. Q Look at the cave seems I've solved the problem but not quite you commented. try the numbers of the cards but nothing kitar probe to the key and when I leave it open is working properly but then he gets a lot of people and I will slow down my brother and me qa numbers appear are:
    direcciopn mac: 00: c0: ca: 51: ae: 30
    IP address: 192.168.1.128
    subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

ahh and the gateway is 192.168.1.1

Now comes the issue which numbers q q I have put porq need to put my network key and before fixing the problem I will have q q I hope this help me thank you very much as before still so sorry for the clumsy but took the L as the novice the car

  17. hey by the way I am interested in buying a 18 dBi yagi antenna but first keria know q such that antenna signal going the'm cojiendo to 78% more or less stable and I wonder if this would greatly increase signal and whether it is worth investing € 40 thanks hope ayas q the tested and the results you indicate me

  18. LaCuevaWifi 24. May, 2012 at 16:15

Sponge, to configure IP addresses do not need to leave the network unprotected: S

As you mention, the IP's configuration is as I mentioned, that is:
IP Address: 192.168.1.X (X is a different number for each device in the network)
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Gateway 192.168.1.1

Regarding the 18 dbi yagi, directional antennas are for use in connection with sight distance (without obstruction). If so, the signal should improve. To find the number of actual signal you get used inSSIDer since applications including network cards are not very transparent and / or accurate.

    Regards,

  19. Tutorial simple and clear. I worked the first time. Thanks

  22. hello. I have a tp-link901 Access Point connected to an antenna 24dBi tp-link2424. I conmplica lot to configure. wiffi want to take the signal from my house which is two blocks away and repeat it in my local. I do the steps that the manual says. I want it detects the signal but the AP reboots. but it says no internet connection ... please I need help ...

  23. LaCuevaWifi 08. June, 2012 at 9:43

Luis, take a look at the amount of signal you get, should be above 25-30dB for a stable connection. I sense that TP-Link Antenna 24dBi dish you have is a grid, note that with these antennas is necessary to have direct vision (sight) for proper operation. On the other hand, use static IP addresses.

von_xavier, are you kidding? The information you seek is in this manual Léetelo!

Luis, I edited your inbox. You must not make public your e-mail in a comment if you want find your inbox full of spam. As for your problem, do not think it configuration problem if no obstacles and signal quality. Try making the connection to the devices in the same room, so descartarás any failure in this regard.

Once you have properly configured, repeat: with grid parabolic antennas need direct vision, this means you have visual line between the antenna and a point where there is a signal, with nothing in between. If you have obstacles, you have the antenna will not help you because it is not intended for cases like yours.

  26. ami jeralce me the same thing happens. determined each time I cut the connection and reconnects again ...

  27. Hello. Just say thank you. With your article I managed to jump-start the TP-Link TL - WA801ND universal repeater mode to repeat the signal from my Orange Livebox 2. Sincerely in the Quick Link TP had not seen what the router or gateway of the security key.

  31. Hello again, Luis, I address you as though you have been told you have to do because these people are few artists and help in a disinterested way, and that is very bonito.Yo solve cuts putting the fixed IP connection, dns, gateway and other wifi card in the laptop, and if it is an external wifi card is equal, and cuts them disappear, I work myself and I'm doing great, regards and I said, some artists are , xD.

  35. Hi!

I have a TP-Link TL-WA801ND that he will clamp XD, I'm at my girl, and your modem wifi (which usually gives you telephone) even close gives a signal between wireless medium and low, and with TPLINK wanted to use the repeater to boost the signal, but has been cnectarlo to current, and all the while the system LED, LAN and QSS are flashing, I tried pressing reset econds and also 10 and nothing happens on my face follows his roll, I followed your steps, but I can not put the url in, I get problem loading page, come not to do U_U.

    Thank you for your attention!

    Hi all!

First, thank you for your Jeralce small yet great contributions ;-)

Fran, you can do what you mention: place an external directional antenna to receive a signal from antenna jacks and use another outlet to broadcast inside. The config. be the same.

Joselo, the problem is that you are connected to your modem thompson and not the TP-Link. First, connect only the TP-Link (preferably corded), configure it as explained in this article and change her IP address, assigning a different from your modem.

Kurly Kaos, for longer distances you need to have sight between points, there are many iPod compatible antennas. If you are looking omnidirectional (nondirectional), I recommend this brand

Yuseiman, as you mention is possible that the TP-Link you have purchased has an operational problem, contact a service representative from the store where you purchased the equipment, surely you can give a solution.

    Greetings! ;)

  37. Hi, first thanks for the manual. I followed to the letter but I have a problem with my WA801ND. When choosing the networks available to me that I want to use me only appears with 4dBi using a planar 12dbi wifi is a family in the village. I connect to it but I repeated the signal. Is it because it is too weak? With my external USB card luxury sail and I get much more power, have a repeater that could be used in this case?

    Thanks

  38. LaCuevaWifi 18. July, 2012 at 8:21

    Hello, Javi:

Indeed, the problem is due to low signal. How far is the network you want to connect? Hinders? Remember that for remote links is essential to direct vision, otherwise there is no guarantee a connection.

Moreover, if you have a high-power USB card obviously will give you much more coverage than a repeater of this kind. If you're looking for High Power Repeater, I recommend the TL-WA5210G TP-Link:

    Salu2! ;)

  39. Thanks for your response expert reply has saved me many headaches.

The problem now is that the password is WPA repeater What would you recommend in this case that supports WEP or WPA?

    Thanks again

  40. LaCuevaWifi 20. July, 2012 at 8:32

    Hello, Javi:

So it is best to opt for a router that supports DD-WRT firmware. The setup is a little more complex but supports more encryption types other than WEP.
    I like these models:

    Greetings! ;)

  41. Hello, I think with that "I have only one problem" I have a bit clueless, heh, heh ...

    Actually I still have two:

    1. The poor quality of the signal (that is hopeless and must be) with my USB with RTL8187 Chipset I get 76% of the signal with the WA801ND I have my 5dbi.

    2. I need a receiver / high power repeater that supports WPA.

    Thanks

  42. Hello, I have an Access Point TP-Link TL-WA5110G, and works as a repeater for windows smoothly, but has trouble mac and android devices, detect a good sign but fail to connect to internet.
Hopefully you can help me ... Thanks

  43. LaCuevaWifi 23. July, 2012 at 9:04

    Javi, I answer by points:

    1. In any case, a repeater inside will have the same ability to receive a high power card.
    2. The teams that I mentioned earlier are compatible with WPA and allow up to 251mW power setting.

    Salu2!

  44. Hello, I installed an access point TP WA801Nd link in repeater mode and interrupts me in the wifi router and telephone access point. I've set to put in the tutorial but I will at times. What I can do?

  45. LaCuevaWifi 24. July, 2012 at 8:37

    Hello, Manuel:

Make sure the repeater receives the signal amount sufficient to prevent these cuts (above 25dB).

    Salu2!

  46. Carlos Vega 16. Jan, 2013 at 22:21

You know if you can connect a device to the ethernet?

My idea is to put one of these next to the TV to repeat the signal and Wi-Fi to connect to another I have on the top floor. And connect the TV to the Ethernet port.

    You can?

  47. Hello, Carlos:

The Ethernet port can connect any device with RJ45.

    Greetings
